Why is everyone telling me what to do with my body?  I don't know what to do!  What are MY RIGHTS??

To ask that question is fair. You are considering abortion, possibly; but, you haven’t made up your mind completely and you don't want to be pressured.

I think you must first decide if it really is about a child or about embarrassment, inconvenience, cost, job security or no job at all, what will people say, and the limitation a child will impose on your future.

When does a fire become a fire? When there is the soft small glow of an ember or when there is a flame.

To the individual on a cold winter night a fire is the ever so small glow to be guarded for dear life. It is to be protected nurtured and fanned until it ignites the tender and brings a dancing flame to warm the hands and body.

To the individual who wants a baby, it is life even in its most microscopic form. It will be protected, nurtured, and feed until it is rolling and kicking.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred it is when we don't really want the baby that we try to decide, "Is it a life?" or "Is it morally wrong to kill it?"

So first just between you and God, in the quiet of your room,  decide honestly in your own heart the reasons you don't want to bring a child into the world.

Second write them down.  Usually your list will envolve cost and responsibility.  Your list may be of a more personal order,  the result of an affair; or you're still living at home and  can't imagine your father or your mother's reaction.

Another issue is if it is out of site, it doesn’t have rights and can be destroyed whenever the ‘owner’ chooses. That concept runs a close parallel with the slavery issues of the Civil War.  When does a life have an independant voice in the decision?

I did ask once in the ‘60s during a group discussion on the subject, "Why not wait until it is born.  Let the doctor kill the child immediately before you see it; then tell you, your child died."  What would be the difference?

There is no difference except we need a rationalization.

We have an uncanny way of rationalizing and finding the answers we need to support our already made up positions.

Do you remember the one comment that won you every argument?   All you had to say was, "Don’t confuse me with facts. My mind is made up!"  If you can't support my facts don't talk to me."  That ended all arguments and discussion.

ChristianAdvocates unashamedly is pro-life. In our opinion the termination of any life in the womb is motivated by selfish considerations that may seem good but are ill advised. Life is a gift, the creation of God. Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

With the new developments of 3D sonar grams it has become abundantly clear life is formed far earlier than ever imagined.

Within 23 days the nerve system is developed. A heart is developed in 32 days. (See Time Magazine article ‘Inside the Womb’ November 11, 2002)

Abortionist were preforming abortions based on science as they interpreted it at that time. Even then it was morally wrong, but now with 3D sonar grams and with newer technology developing every day who knows what we will see and know in the very near future.

In all our sophistication and modern science we are still learning and discovering. In the 1300-1400s the greatest minds of the day thought the earth was flat and if one sailed too far one would drop off the edge.

I wonder if we are not being just as foolish now making our decisions of life and death for someone else. What shall we answer if we face all those babies in a future judgement? What ever shall you tell your child when you meet up later?

Bottom line, neither science nor medicine can declare an arbitrary time during pregnancy that there is no life and therefore there is no murder. Some even propose making abortion legal up to 30 days after delivery, so we can eliminate children with defects that a parent may find inconvenient to raise. There has been some discussion of up to 12 months to catch slow developing malformities. That’s logical if we assume it is ok to terminate a life prior to delivery for the same reasons or for convenience.

Maybe we could make birth the pivotal point (0), and decide the number of months we can go either direction pre-birth or post-birth. Somewhere between 0 to 9 months either way?

Job 31:15 Did not He who made me in the womb . . . Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?  Before you start giving the writer of Job a hard time; please realize that Job records  Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, [and] hangeth the earth upon nothing.   Recently with our most sophisticated telescopes we found there is a column of space directly over the earth where no stars or planets can be found. God must have be talking to Job.

So if Job says God made me in the womb, who am I to question him?

Ps 139:13-16 thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

v14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well.

v15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

v16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Is there an alternative to abortion? Instead of terminating the life of the unborn child, the newborn can be placed for adoption by loving Christians. By choosing to give birth to her baby rather than having an abortion, the birth mother spares the life of a child created in the image of God.

Summary:

Abortion for the purpose of convenience is motivated by selfishness and becomes a rationalization.

Abortion due to infidelity, and uncontrolled lust is again selfishness and becomes a rationalization, an excuse not to deal with the results of our sin.

So, innocent life is being taken everyday for reasons of convenience or selfish motivation. We seek legal approval of abortion solely for rationalization.

Its not, is it a life. It is, I don’t want this life to mess up MY LIFE.

Hey dont hang up the phone, bring us your list we had you make out.  I am convinced we can provide an answer to each of your concerns and find peace for you and your child.
